    Since I bought the Salter Slim Design Electronic Platform Kitchen Scale Black (which revolutionised weighing things in my kitchen), I thought that it would be nice to have a similar one for weighing myself. So when I saw the offer on this one, I got it. The scale is indeed what you need from a scale, with a nice slim design. And the mirror, which is of very good quality (unlike many other cheap mirrors) looks very stylish in my bathroom. It is a great idea, as having the scale occupying unnecessary space when you should only use it once a week is a waste of space. And having a clock in the bathroom is a welcome bonus, too. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase.

    I read the reviews here before buying this product and saw that one person stated that they had the mirror fall off, but I assumed this was an isolated instance, unfortunately it is not, I took the precaution of installing in such a way that if this did happen it would land on the floor. If this hits a sink then you would probably be replacing a sink too. It does not bear thinking about if it landed on a small child.

    The mirror is just stuck into place. It has taken less than two weeks to fall off (the bracket which is screwed to the wall and the scales remain in place) it is not an installation issue. I am surprised from a health and safety point of view that this product has been allowed on to the market. I would have thought that Salter should have recalled them, I suppose it will take injury or death before that happens. It may be a batch issue as the other person posted the same problem in in Oct 2012.

    Update: 9 weeks after contacting Salter (homemedics) regarding this issue and getting nowhere, having to get Trading Standards involved, I received a call from Salter apologising for the problems and the way that I was treated, they are aware of the problem and have tried their best to recall this product. So once one gets through their out-sourced customer care service, it is possible to get a satisfactory resolution.

    Amazon have been excellent in this matter.

    I've been using the scales from this set for a couple of years now and they are great. Very stylish, thin with a green tinge. When not in use they display the time and it's very handy to have a waterproof clock in the bathroom. The setting buttons to change kgs to stones, adjust the clock twice a year are very easy to access and operate on the underside of the scales. They are also very easy to wipe clean - none of the fiddly bumpy raised bits you find on other scales. They still look as good as new.

    However mine live on the ground.

    This is because I think the mirror is too small for a bathroom. At 50cm square it's smaller than the current mirrors I use. It also sits very proud of the wall to slide the scales in. I didn't find this very attractive. I can only position my mirrors in my cloakroom and main bathroom behind the doors and I didn't want the doors bashing into the mirror everytime an overenthusiastic child entered.

    I have kept the surround as it's a great quality mirror and I think it'd be ideal for an en suite where you are usually strapped for space - over a sink would look fine - a bit like a slim cabinet. Unfortunately I have windows over my sinks so it'd look like a fat mirror behind the door rather than the most dimensionally suited over a sink look.

    Needed new scales so selected these. Not sure about the mirror case that the scales hit into. I quickly left this aside and just stuck to using the scales. They are incredibly accurate and easy to use. Not that easy to set the time but once done, its done. The 4-star is purely because of the additional mirror. If you want this don't be dissuaded.

    The bit that fits on the wall stayed put but the mirror just came away from that, it was glued on. Luckily nobody was injured. The scales were still on the wall it was just the front ie the mirror that fell off. If I haven't made myself clear "The thing just fell apart and the mirror fell to the floor!". The mirror did not break though so we were lucky all round.
    ie very poorly made, don't buy as it's dangerous.
